The most famous and successful Japanese NBA basketball player is Yuta Watanabe. He currently plays for the Memphis Grizzlies as a small forward. Watanabe is 6'9" tall and was born on October 13, 1994, in Kagawa Prefecture. He played college basketball at George Washington University and went undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft. However, he earned a two-way contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2018 and has been playing with them ever since. Watanabe has represented Japan in international basketball tournaments and is considered one of the best Japanese basketball players of all time.
